Being a mother can be the most joyful and fulfilling experience and yet at the same time bring heartache and challenges which can sometimes feel overwhelming.

The job of raising children and effectively running a household requires interpersonal skills such as patience, insight, strong communicate skills, compassion and resilience. On a practical level it requires the ability to handle others, organisational skills, time management and foresight.

Quite the resume

However if this vital role is being performed by someone who is vulnerable, insecure or unsupported by others then the emotional, mental and physical toll of parenting can be devastating. Looking after ourselves physically by exercising and eating well and seeking supportive environments that provide comfort and inspiration is vital to provide the life force necessary to do the job well.

After all ‘We teach our children by how we live’ so to take care of ourselves is to teach them to do the same.
